Source Reduction Plan Workshops

Once you have good baseline data from a clean-up site, you can use this to help identify common items/groups of items being found and possible source/s. This supports government, individuals, community groups, schools, industry and businesses to work together to stop and/or reduce those items from entering the environment. This is a Source Reduction Plan. Tangaroa Blue Foundation recognises that the marine debris & litter issue needs to be tackled at a geographic scale offering the best opportunity to make a real change.

If you are involved in clean-ups within or surrounding any of the seven council areas, collecting marine debris & litter data, working on initiatives to tackle the sources of marine debris & litter, are looking to get more information on this issue in your local area and/or involved in being part of efforts to stop marine debris & litter at the source - this workshop is for you!

Frequently asked questions?

Can I register for more than one workshop?

Yes

I don't collect data (or much data) on what marine debris & litter items are found, but I am involved clean-ups. Can I still participate?

Yes, we would love you to get involved

There are several people at my organisation that would like to participate. Can I register for more than one person?

Yes. You can register up to three people but they will need to be participating in the same SRP workshop/s as you, otherwise they will need to fill out a separate registration.

Is this workshop about getting clean-up groups to collect more data? We are already doing as much as we can.

No, the workshops are about identifying what is being found and how we can work together to stop or reduce marine debris at the source.

I do clean-ups of streets/parks/business districts, but I don't clean-up beaches and/or waterways. Can I still participate?

Yes

I am based (or my clean-up activities are based) outside of the seven council regions. Can I still get involved?

If you are based outside of the seven council regions e.g. industry or business, but your activities could impact on Port Phillip Bay or the Yarra River, we encourage you to get involved.

If you are conducting clean-up activities or initiatives to address marine debris & litter outside of the seven council areas but would still like to contribute to the workshop/s, please register to participate.
